In BW, when I transport a standard datasource (like 2LIS_13_VDITM, for example), the SAP Transport landscape automatically changes the source system assignment. So, when I am in my BW Development environment, the source system for my datasource is ECC Dev. When I move a transport containing that datasource to my BW Quality environment, the source for that datasource is adjusted by the transport mechanism to ECC Quality.
This transport mechanism is working fine in my environment for ECC-sourced BW datasources.
However, I also need data in BW from non-ECC systems. I have successfully developed a DB-Connect series of datasources that is pulling data into BW in my BW Development environment from a non-ECC source (Manugistics, in this case). The Basis Team I work with created a connection to a Manugistics development system, and I implemented the solution successfully in the BW Development system. My development is complete, and I am ready to commence testing in my BW Quality environment. The Basis Team I work with has created a source system in the BW Quality environment that can see the corresponding Manugistics Quality environment.
I created a transport that contained the BW datasources and infopacks, and attempted to move that transport to the BW Quality environment. The transport failed - RC = 8 - because the Manugistics Development Source system does not exist in the BW Quality enviroment - which is of course true - the Manugistics Quality system exists as a source system in the BW Quality system.
As noted above, if this had been ECC-source datasources and infopacks, the transport would have succeeded because the transport landscape would have updated the source system from ECC Development to ECC Quality.
So, my question is, how do I configure my transport landscape to automatically change the source system from Manugistics Development to Manugistics Quality?
