BW Upgrade 7.01 to BW 7.30

Hi

We have a 7.01 BW system. In the next weeks we intend to upgrade it to BW7.30.

One of our external consultants suggested to execute this upgrade in two steps:

1. Step: Upgrade from NW701 with SEM BW 604 to NW730 with SEM BW 6.34

2. Step: Upgrade from NW730 with SEM BW 634 to NW731 with SEM BW7.36

Is this procedure really necessary?

Is there no way to execute it in one step?
